HeadersIn combination with the finned tubes, headers are an integral part of the air cooled heat exchanger pressure vessel. Headers are used to receive the fluid from the piping and direct the fluid through the tubes. Tubes are connected to the headers via expanding, welding or both. A few of our standard header configurations are shown below. Plug Box Header The most common air cooled heat exchanger header style, this general purpose design allows cleaning of individual tubes and is used for most refinery and power processes with low to moderately high pressures. | | Cover Plate Header Either removable cover or bonnet, a cover plate header is typically used in chemical applications or services with severe fouling conditions. This design is available for low to medium, <300 psi, installations | | Pipe Manifold Header Pipe manifold headers are suitable for all pressures, including full vacuum. Typically this type of header is used for steam coils. Tubes are not rolled into the header, rather they are welded from the outside. | | High Pressure / Other Header Designs GEA Rainey Corporation is capable of over seven different types of headers and bundle configurations, each offering their own benefits and serving all of the process and power applications. High pressure applications, >10,000 psi, are not an issue. | |
